April 11, 2019, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) and China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) organized The Global Textile and Apparel Supply Chain Conference (TASCC) in coordination with Chinese Business Association in Vietnam, CNTAC Office of Social Responsibility, China Textile Exchange Center and ASEAN Textile Productivity Alliance. This is also the first year the Conference was held in Vietnam.

Overview of the Global Textile Supply Chain Conference

Attending the conference were Mr. Sun Ruizhe - Chairman of CNTAC, Mr. Yang Jichao and Mr. Chen Dapeng - Vice Chairman of CNTAC; Mr. Vu Duc Giang - Chairman of VITAS; Mr. Le Tien Truong - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, General Director of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group; Ms. Bui Hoang Yen - Southern Deputy Representative, Trade Promotion Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade); Mr. Nawasmittawong Jumong - Vice Chairman of Southeast Asian Textile Industry Federation; Mr. Christian P. Schindler - General Director of the Federation of International Textile Manufacturers - ITM; Mr. Li Jianliang, Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, ... and more than 200 delegates from domestic and international organizations and businesses.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Chen Dapeng - Vice Chairman of China Textile and Apparel Council, said: “China is the largest textile producer in the world. Total textile products reached 54.6 million tons, accounting for more than two thirds of global products, of which exports reached 276.731 million. Besides, the export of textile and garment products to Vietnam reached USD 4,731 billion, an increase of 17% compared to the same period, with major imported goods being garments of all kinds. I trust the Global Textile Supply Chain Conference this time, the two countries will promote their strengths, continue to expand cooperation, enhance their position, increase competitiveness, jointly develop sustainably and integration into the world economy ”.

The conference focused on discussing the issues: "Globalization of textile supply chain and sustainable development trend of textile and garment industry"; "How to build green textile supply chain"; "Role of International Association in connecting global textile supply chains"; "Regional cooperation and responsible investment in textile and garment industry"; "Greening textile supply chain through action - world experience to national actions"; "Integrating supply chain resources to meet global customers."

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vu Duc Giang - VITAS Chairman emphasized, with the theme: "Trend of sustainable development integration - towards greening of textile industry and regional solutions to global challenges ", TASCC Conference 2019 will be an opportunity for garment factories, companies to provide fabrics, raw materials, and update information on markets, trends, potentials and solutions of global supply chains, building negotiating and cooperating process between China, Vietnam and other countries in Asia.

Mr. Le Tien Truong - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, General Director of Vietnam Textile and Garment Group said: “In 2018, total fabric market value is about 645 billion USD. It is forecasted that by 2020, the total value of textile market (both yarn and fabric) will reach US $ 842.6 billion.

Also in the framework of the conference, OSB JSC. – Authorized Reseller of Alibaba.com in Vietnam since 2009, had a presentation about solutions to help enterprises expand export business, boost revenue in 2019.
